Business :: Work
We work for a non-profit whose fiscal year ends today, as does that of many governments, agencies, and businesses. It's a day of mixed emotions: on the one hand, we are reminded of the bittersweet passage of time (not to mention the risk of red ink); on the other hand, we can feel as if we are getting a fresh start with new budgets, plans, and goals.
For such an occasion, don't we need some liminal rite, a ceremony to provide the opportunity for celebration and reflection? We could popularize it with a website — but alas, fiscalyear.com is wasted.
